Transfer Talks: Liverpool plot stunning Alexander Isak move, Andre Onana open to Man United exit

A strong effort from Liverpool hoping to turn the Magpies’ attack Alex Isak into their prized forward has been on, and this is what talkSPORT have gathered across several sources.

Should Salah decide to stay, Isak will feature very much forward on Liverpool’s list of targets.

Was Isak instrumental in sinking Newcastle against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final? So, what are the odds that he finds himself with the Reds? While rumors regarding Darwin Nunez joining in the deal to be swapped with Isak were downplayed by reports, there are some other players who Liverpool might have an interest in trading.

Newcastle were almost able to land Joe Gomez in the summer before last.

Jarrell Quansah was assessed for the role of a makeweight in negotiations when the Reds were trying to retrieve Anthony Gordon from St James Park.

The Magpies will undertake contract negotiations with Isak at the end of the season, but they know they will be up against some serious competition due to his 50 goals in just 77 Premier League outings.

With uncertainty clouding Isak’s future and Callum Wilson expected to step out, Newcastle sporting director Paul Mitchell put his interest forward in the soon-to-be-free-agent Jonathan David.

However, the Magpies will face stiff competition for the Canada international, with Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester United, and West Ham among the clubs also linked with an interest.

Players on Chelsea
The casual observer may note that Aston Villa and Newcastle are stalking Chelsea winger Noni Madueke.

Madueke is one among a slew of players that Chelsea could be willing to part with in order to generate funds to finance purchases.

The soft-spoken young man arrived from PSV Eindhoven at a price of £28.5million in January 2023 and scored seven goals in 23 games in the Premier League this season.

The two-time England coach has already been sent back home by the Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca this season due to issues with attitude during training.

‘Unsettled’ Onana likely for an exit

onana
Andre Onana’s potential departure from Manchester United in the summer will depend as much on his desire to leave as on United’s inclination to part with him.

There is serious interest from the Saudi Pro League for Onana, as United will consider application from bidders for the number one keeper, who is often injured.

Although Ruben Amorim is not opposed to selling Onana to bring in a custodian he prefers, talkSPORT has learned his Cameroonian goalkeeper has been unsettled at Old Trafford for quite a while.

Wary of the tight PSR restrictions in operation, United would wish to recoup most of the £46m that had been invested in Onana on the dictates of his predecessor Erik ten Hag.

Signing Seagulls could leave after one season

Matt O’Riley of Brighton is being pursued by clubs in Italy.

talkSPORT understands that Roma are in the hunt for O’Riley, who has not had a nice first season in the Premier League.

Brighton looked to have pulled off a steal after paying Celtic £25m for O’Riley last summer, but the 24-year-old has managed just 14 appearances for the Seagulls.

On his debut, the ankle injury put him on the verge of breaking the EFL Cup-draw against Crawley and he was taken out for two months to later return and score a classic winner against Manchester City.

However, a different knee problem has hindered his progress, and the Denmark international knows he cannot afford to count on O Riley being around regularly in the run-up to next summer’s World Cup.
